Your Career Journey
Let's start with your professional story!
Can you tell us a bit about your career journey?
My career started after I graduated from university in Atlanta, Georgia, at a small sales training startup called Target Marketing Systems (TMS 😊). It focused on training large sales organisations in opportunity planning and large account management. The company grew rapidly and was a huge success. After five years, it was acquired by Siebel Systems, which was later acquired by Oracle.
From there, I joined Gartner at its headquarters in Stamford, CT, as a Client Director for IBM, the company’s largest customer. Gartner transferred me back to Australia in 2010, where I took over the Telstra relationship as the Global Client Director. After 15 years at Gartner, I was ready for a new challenge and joined Tableau (Salesforce) in 2020 to manage their largest telco, media and energy clients.
In 2022, I was hired by Databricks to manage their major energy and utilities customers. From there, I joined an Australian founder-led business in the governance, risk and cyber space.
What led you to Taylor Made Sales?
I love networking and recently joined a session hosted by Renece Brewster, who connected me to Leanne as "someone you need to know" and she was absolutely right! I decided I wanted more control in my career and a healthy environment that enabled me to use my strengths while gaining personal satisfaction, rather than just achieving corporate goals and metrics for others. Taylor Made Sales was exactly the right fit!
What’s the most rewarding part of your work?
I love being able to understand a customer deeply enough to identify exactly what their challenges and needs are so that the “sale” becomes a no-brainer. I also enjoy understanding customers' personal goals and challenges. ✨
If you could give career advice to your younger self, what would it be?
Mentoring was an incredible part of my development. Actively seek out mentors and maintain those relationships throughout your career. Don’t be surprised where mentors can be found. Sometimes they’re friends, customers, or even people sitting next to you on a plane. 😉
Beyond the Job—Let’s Get Personal!
A little fun to get to know you better!
If my life were a movie or TV show, it would be…
Modern Family. The chaos of the Pritchett-Dunphy family pretty much captures it all: humour, heart, unexpected twists and a whole lot of personality!
If I could launch my own business tomorrow, it would be…
A platform using AI to help women become confident in financial, legal and technical areas that matter most in their lives. Practical, empowering and future-focused, it would be all about helping women navigate life’s big decisions with clarity and confidence.
My go-to pump-up song before a big meeting is…
Saving Up by Dom Dolla. High energy, no fluff, just like the mindset needed to walk into a room and own it. 💅
If my life had a tagline, it would be…
"Don’t sweat the small stuff!" Life’s too short to get stuck on the minor things.
Coffee, tea, or something stronger? (Bonus: How do you take it?)
Latte, extra hot. A strong start to any day — no room temperature energy allowed! 🔥☕
If we had a Taylor Made Sales talent show, my hidden talent would be…
Aerial or upside-down Pilates. Core strength, focus and hanging out in mid-air? That’s commitment! 💪
Reflections on Your Career
Your take on work, growth, and the future!
What’s a memorable moment in your career that stands out?
At Gartner Australia, I had a great manager who supported my professional development and promoted me into a global role. This meant I had responsibility for global growth in Asia, Europe and the US. I was able to include both license and consulting in my role, which was unique for an Australian-headquartered customer. 🙌
What’s one thing you’ve learned in your career that you wish more people knew?
Senior executives are normal people too. They have worries, ageing parents, kids, hobbies and more. They are just a little scarce on time. 🫂
If Taylor Made Sales had an official playlist, which song must be on it?
True by Spandau Ballet. It’s smooth, timeless and a little bit iconic. Just like the kind of relationships we aim to build in sales.
Imagine it’s 2035—what does a day in the life of a tech professional look like?By 2035, AI will have taken over many of the admin-heavy parts of the job. Tasks like BDR outreach, booking meetings and logging expenses will run quietly in the background. But the heart of the role will be more human than ever.
Building strong relationships, understanding what really matters to clients and guiding them through complex decisions will be crucial, especially as customers arrive more informed and tech-savvy.
At the same time, technical know-how will be non-negotiable. Tech professionals will need to understand how different platforms and tools work together within complex ecosystems, and stay sharp as AI continues to drive rapid innovation. 🤖
