Team Taylor: Tony Timney

Behind every smart solution is someone who made it happen.

Team Taylor is our way of celebrating the people who power Taylor Made Sales. The curious minds. The strategic thinkers. The ones who bring energy, ideas and a whole lot of heart to everything they do.

Each month, we put the spotlight on one team member and share a little of what makes them great. From career journeys to quirks and coffee orders, we’re here to show the people behind the results.

Because real impact starts with real people. ✨

Your Career Journey

Let's start with your professional story!

  1. Can you tell us a bit about your career journey?

Most of my career has been in sales and sales leadership. When I moved to Australia from the UK in 1993, I became employee number 3 at Vodac, Vodafone’s sales arm. We had no network, no coverage, and zero customers, but it was a lot of fun being part of that early growth.

From there, I joined Telstra, selling into financial services and later becoming the AE for Westpac before stepping into an Enterprise Sales GM role. Along the way, I also ran my own sales consulting business, with Telstra as a key client, delivering coaching and account management programs.

I eventually moved into software sales leadership, spending 8 years at SAS, 2 at Pega, and the last 4 at Salesforce. These days, I’m focused on building my own consulting business and partnering with like-minded teams such as TMS to deliver meaningful outcomes for clients.

  1. What led you to Taylor Made Sales?

Vijay introduced me to Leanne as “someone you need to meet!”

  2. What’s the most rewarding part of your work?

Building high-performing teams. I’ve always loved coaching, and that’s what inspired me to start my own consulting business. 🫶

  3. If you could give career advice to your younger self, what would it be?

I should’ve made the jump from telco to software earlier, it was a great move for me. And when leading a team, always surround yourself with people who are better than you.😉

Beyond the Job—Let’s Get Personal!

A little fun to get to know you better!

  1. If my life were a movie or TV show, it would be…

Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. Fun, being present, and not taking life too seriously. 😎

  2. If you could launch your own business tomorrow, what would it be?

Besides what I’m doing now, an AI-led platform that helps people celebrate life’s milestones, memories and legacy.

  3. My go-to pump-up song before a big meeting is…

Shout to the Top – The Style Council 📣

  4. If my life had a tagline, it would be…

Be true to yourself, and remember where you come from.

  5. Coffee, tea, or something stronger? (Bonus: How do you take it?)

    Latte. Extra, extra hot. ♨️

  6. If we had a Taylor Made Sales talent show, my hidden talent would be…

Holiday planning. It may sound boring, but my family loves how I map out every detail. 😏

Reflections on Your Career

Your take on work, growth, and the future!

  1. What’s a memorable moment in your career that stands out?

In my first sales role at 22, I was very green. My boss Joe set up two days of client meetings, but after just two he took me back to his hotel car park. He pulled out a notebook, filled an A4 page with things I needed to work on, then turned the page and filled most of that too.

He said he believed in me and would invest in making it work if I was in. I said yes. Over time, we worked through the list, built a great relationship, and I became a top performer. Joe was an incredible coach, and that moment shaped everything. 🙌

  2. What’s one thing you’ve learned in your career that you wish more people knew?

It’s more than okay to be your authentic self. ❤️‍🔥

  3. If Taylor Made Sales had an official playlist, which song must be on it?

Live Like We’re Dancing – Mura Masa. It got me through COVID. 💪

  4. Imagine it’s 2035—what does a day in the life of a tech professional look like?Automation will be built in, things like tailored prospecting plans and CRM tasks will be handled by agent-assisted tools. The human interactions will focus on high-value work like negotiation, planning and specialised roles.
